A crew from Marine Rescue Port Macquarie arrived at the scene of the blast, upstream of downtown on the Hastings River on Wednesday evening

There are reports that the explosion was heard over a wide area, with the cause of the “big” explosion still unknown

Paramedics from NSW Ambulance and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter were called to the scene just after 7:50 p.m. to report a boat explosion

One of the rescue vessels located two people from a 40-foot flybridge cruiser found half a nautical mile from Shelley Beach

Marine Rescue said rescue teams found the ship with its engine alarms sounding and exhaust fumes filling the cabin

A spokesperson for NSW Ambulance told Daily Mail Australia that several crews were called to the scene just after 7:50 p.m. for reports of a boat explosion

Two men were treated by paramedics on the ground The Westpac rescue helicopter also attended with an intensive care doctor and paramedic on board

The younger of the couple suffered superficial burns to his lower limbs while the older man suffered more severe burns to his face, chest and legs

Marine Rescue Port Macquarie has reported that a second boat will be stranded on an oyster farm lease

A spokesperson for Port Macquarie Police has confirmed officers are currently at the scene, but have no further information at this point
