The defeat ended what had been a dream race for unranked Pegula, who recorded the best Grand Slam appearance of her career, her previous record being a third-round exit in the US Open last year
After losing the first set, Brady managed to bring it together in the second set, forcing Pegula to play more from the baseline after dominating from the net in the first
Pegula’s serve crashed in the third set with double faults seriously injuring her at pivotal moments
On the other hand, Brady gained confidence as the match progressed and she played her best tennis when she needed it most
After a first return leg of the final set, Brady took a leap forward by winning the next six straight games to win the game and book his first semi-final at a Grand Slam
“At the start of the game I felt the pressure from her,” Brady said after the win
“Once you give her a little balloon you run from side to side I felt I was doing a little too much, maybe thought I needed to change something, maybe -be trying to play with more spin
As Brady takes on 25th seed Karolina Muchova in the semi-finals, Pegula leaves the tournament after surprising fans on and off the pitch, with her current ranking of Non62 set to skyrocket after her screening
Pegula arrived at the tournament virtually unknown to Australian tennis fans, but her last name is synonymous with success in the United States
His parents, Kim and Terry, built their fortunes in oil and gas and beat Donald Trump and rocker Jon Bon Jovi to buy the NFL franchise the Buffalo Bills, while they also own the NHL team the Buffalo Sabers, with family wealth estimated at $ 5 billion in the ball park
