EXCLUSIVE: The Mirror may reveal Nick Grimshaw is leaving Radio 1 after more than a decade as a host

Nick Grimshaw quit his job on Radio 1 after 14 years at the station, the Mirror can exclusively reveal

The star will reveal today in his program Drivetime that he is leaving the station, which he joined for the first time in 2007

It is understood that Grimmy, 36, told BBC bosses several weeks ago who have now appointed Jordan North and Vick Hope to replace him

A source said: “Grimmy loved every minute and did everything he ever dreamed of on Radio 1 It was a very difficult decision but he is looking forward to the next chapter of his life”

Grimmy took over the reins of the famous Breakfast Show in 2012, replacing longtime Chris Moyles

He remained in this niche until 2018, when he took over the Drivetime niche from Greg James

A source said: “Grimmy will be a very difficult act to follow, but the bosses are delighted that Jordan and Vick have agreed to team up as part of a new Drivetime look”

Radio 1’s DJ Jordan profile has skyrocketed since being announced as a finalist on I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! last year He is currently hosting a weekend show on Radio 1

Vick has also enjoyed a high profile concert series since performing on the Capital Breakfast show, including a stint on Strictly Come Dancing

A source added: “They both can’t wait to get started and jumped at the chance to put themselves in Grimmy’s shoes at such a prestigious location.

“They both won the chance to reach a much larger audience and have every intention of seizing what is a brilliant opportunity”
