Ebene News – FI – Crystal Palace – Manchester City: Video, reaction, recap

Crystal Palace – Manchester City was a tight and tense game at first, but City’s quality shone as they approached the Premier League title victory

Sergio Aguero and Ferran Torres struck in quick succession in the second half to lead City past a stubborn Palace side, as City can claim the title on Sunday if second-placed Manchester United lose to Liverpool

Premier League recaps

Three things we learned from Everton – Aston Villa

Three things we learned from Chelsea – Fulham

Three things we learned from Brighton – Leeds

1 Aguero goes back the years: Seeing Aguero only score his second Premier League goal since January 2020 was heartwarming The way he expertly controlled and then shot at home in a half-volley reminded us of his incredible quality and the Argentine striker, if he is in good shape, still has a lot to offer It won’t be at City, as he will leave at the end of this season and the clubs will be lining up to sign the free agent, but Aguero’s sharpness in the box sparked this game. He will surely play a big role as they aim to win the Champions League, and if they reach the final it will be his last game in a City shirt. Everything is in place for a deceased Aguero winner to seal the glory (we’ve seen this before) and injury issues aside, this would be a perfect way out for him

2 City on autopilot throughout: they weren’t good at all in the first half, and Pep wasn’t happy But just like they did against PSG, they got it climbed several notches in the second half and won with minimal hassle With the PL title won, the League Cup already in their hands and an upcoming UCL final, City have this incredible talent of being able to reach their highest level whenever they need to.

3 Workmanlike Palace lack of threat: Wilfried Zaha had half a chance, Benteke had a good one and that was about all Palace worked hard to frustrate City but Roy Hodgson’s side lacked a tip The manager and several of those players will be leaving this summer and as strong as the Eagles have been in recent years, it’s time to refresh their squad Bringing in someone like Eddie Howe would be the best of both worlds Someone with extensive PL experience who also loves to entertain The palaces are on the verge of a huge rebuild but Hodgson will leave them in a very healthy position

Christian Benteke had a good chance but couldn’t get any power over his header on a handsome Andros Townsend cross Raheem Sterling then had a great chance slipping behind but delaying his shot and Tyrick Mitchell brilliantly managed to block

Sergio Aguero buzzed at one end, but Joel Ward then leapt into the box and set Benteke in place, but his point-blank shot was saved by Ederson

Gabriel Jesus managed a cross but was clearly offside as City struggled to get started in the first half

Aguero jumped in to clinically finish early in the second half as he collected a cross from Benjamin Mendy, expertly controlled and shot a half volley at home to score his very first goal at Selhurst Park and just his second PL goal since January 2020

84 seconds later, Ferran Torres made it 2-0 as Aguero, Jesus and Sterling combined before the Spaniard managed a low shot at home

Sterling hit the post, Torres threw in another effort right past everyone and Joao Cancelo whipped a shot a few inches wide as City activated the style in the second half

City took the win with minimal fuss as they are set to seal another Premier League title
