At least nine people were injured and up to 200 evacuated on Wednesday after a night-time landslide in a small town north of Oslo, according to police and local media

Several houses were swept away in Gjerdrum, where 5,000 people live 25 kilometers northeast of the capital, in the early hours of Wednesday

“Several houses were taken by the landslide The emergency services, with the help of the Norwegian civil defense and the army, are evacuating,” Norwegian police said on Twitter

Norwegian media said up to 200 people were evacuated from their homes and nine injured, but none were in critical condition

Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg presented her sympathies in a social media post, saying: “It hurts to see how the forces of nature have ravaged Gjerdrum My thoughts are with everyone affected by the landslide “
