Firefighters, police and paramedics were called to the Brierley Hill shopping center just before noon West Midlands Police confirmed officers rushed to the busy shopping center after a ” substance ‘was thrown at people near the bus station

Police said an investigation was still ongoing and called on anyone with information to come forward

A bomb squad was also at the scene in Wolverhampton after fearing a suspected chemical attack

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: ‘We were called to the Merry Hill shopping center in Brierley Hill just before noon this afternoon after a substance was thrown at people near the bus station

“Fortunately, no injuries were reported and investigations are underway to find out what it was”

A spokesperson for the West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 11.57 a.m. to reports of a patient who had been dumped with an unknown substance near the bus station at Merry Hill Shopping Center

“However, it became clear that the patient did not need treatment from the ambulance service and we were fired”

Intu Merry Hill has confirmed that the mall remains open after the incident and has apologized to customers

A spokesperson said: “Police were called in about a minor incident outside the center earlier today

“The center remains open as usual and we apologize to our buyers for any inconvenience caused”
