Boris Johnson has said his thoughts are with the family of murdered PCSO Julia James, as mourners light candles in her memory

In a moving moment Tuesday night, a lonely candle was lit outside his family home in Snowdown, Kent

This was one of the many sparkles in the local community Ms. James has been a popular community support worker

A group of people also gathered in nearby Aylesham, where flowers were laid in the days following his murder

Candles were also lit by fellow police and members of the public further away, in low-key tribute to the fallen officer

Her grieving daughter, Bethan Coles, had called on people to leave candles outside their homes, rather than gathering for a vigil, saying it would be a “nice nod” to her mother while allowing the police to focus on the murder investigation

Mrs James, 53, was found dead in Akholt Wood, near her family home in the village of Snowdown a week ago

Popular PCSO – described as ‘fiercely loyal’ by her devastated family – died of serious head injuries while walking her dog

Detectives examined “all possible motives” for the murder, while warning the public to be vigilant

Before the candlelight, Ms Coles said in a Facebook post: “A number of people have asked to have a mommy vigil, and although I am so grateful to people who want to remember her, I am very aware that any gathering should be monitored (if it was even allowed)

“I have discussed this with my family and we agree that we would prefer all law enforcement resources to focus on the investigation as there is so much work to be done”

Instead, she suggested that people wanting to remember her mother to light a candle and leave it at their door

She added: “It would be a nice nod to mom in a way that doesn’t interfere with the police investigation”

Kent Police Chief Alan Pughsley told ITV the force was “in shock” after Ms James’ death

Speaking after visiting flowers left in his memory, the police chief vowed to find his killer

He said: “You can imagine the force is deeply shocked by what happened to Julia

“We will do our best to find out who did this to bring them to justice”
