Ebene News – GB – Bournemouth 1 Rotherham United 0 – “We threw out the kitchen sink” to find an equalizer, says Paul Warne

Denmark’s international billing hit midway through the first half to ensure the Cherries extend their unbeaten lead under goalie Jonathan Woodgate to four games The Cherries started off brilliantly with the midfielder Dutch midfielder Arnaut Danjuma wrapped in the gloves of Millers goalkeeper Viktor Johansson from the edge of the penalty area in the 16th minute

Soon after, a run on a free kick from Johansson wreaked havoc on Bournemouth’s box, but his counterpart Asmir Begovic managed to clear the ball

The deadlock was broken in the 23rd minute when Bournemouth surprised their visitors with a quick counterattack Adam Smith started the movement with a header from inside his own half before playing a nice brace with Surridge and cross for Billing to blow up the 12-meter house

Rotherham hadn’t come back 1-0 to win in any of their previous 30 league games But the Cherries had a huge slack a minute before half-time when Rotherham captain Richard Wood missed a golden chance to bring the score to 1-1

Michael Ihiekwe did well in directing Daniel Barlaser’s free kick in the face of the goal and Wood looked certain to score, but he managed to return the ball from inside the penalty area

It took a superb save by Begovic to hold Bournemouth’s 1-0 lead in the 67th minute

Ben Wiles let fly with a poisonous shot just outside the penalty area and Begovic acrobatically threw himself into his upper left corner to return it for a corner

Freddie Ladapo could have scored but failed to keep his shot going after coming face to face with Begovic

Rotherham manager Paul Warne revealed his players were disappointed not to take a point of the match

He said: “We were fine We were pretty happy with the way we played We were good out of possession but not so good out of possession

“The guys in the locker room are a bit disappointed that we left with nothing

“We threw out the sink as best we could and the best compliment I can give the guys is that Bournemouth was very happy to hear the final whistle

“I thought we created a lot and championed them a lot, so our efforts and efforts should be applauded

“I came here with confidence that we would cause them problems if we played our best and left feeling confident

“We have shown how much we can pay and how competitive we can be against anyone”
