Ebene News – GB – David Jason says today’s television is on a ‘downward spiral’ and lacks censorship

David Jason gave his take on today’s TV shows by heading in a “downward spiral” and without “censorship”

In chatting with Bucks Free Press this month, the Only Fools and Horses actor, 80, frankly said that the content of today’s dramas and thrillers is different from the shows at their peak.

“We were censored when you couldn’t say certain things, you couldn’t show certain things because it was disrespectful or bad manners You needed to be smart in your dialogue to get around it – now you just say it and we go further in a downward spiral “

He added: “Bad language is getting more and more graphic and is meant to be okay. If it’s a drama or a powerful everyday life story, you need to make everyone swear their heads “

The Open All Hours star spoke candidly to HELLO! earlier this year, when he intervened in the debate, adding: “While in [A Touch of] Frost we have avoided all bad language and graphic scenes of any kind

“We just told the story and I firmly believe that this story is good enough and that you tell it well enough you don’t even notice that they aren’t swearing, so it’s not mandatory to keep your public “

The actor even opened up to HELLO! on the prospect of flipping the classic ITV drama, which ended in 2010 “If the right script happened, I think we could definitely have another crack”

David is one of the country’s most recognizable faces in British television history, so it’s fitting that he’s the subject of a new Channel 5 documentary series David Jason: The Star favorite UK TV, airing this week

The two-part series will delve into David’s impressive 60-plus-year career, from his first breakthrough in theater to acting, to his iconic roles as Derek ‘Del-Boy’ Trotter, DI Jack Frost and Pop Larkin
