Mick Carter of EastEnders has revealed heartbreaking details about the handling and grooming he suffered as a child

Thursday’s special and powerful episode saw Mick, played by Danny Dyer, consider committing suicide after months of isolation and seeing his sanity soar

The last episode saw Mick confess for the first time that he had been sexually abused as a child

After trying to push him away and not accept it, the last episode changed everything as he accepted the truth – and revealed what Katy Lewis, his attacker, had done

Months after arriving, Mick finally got to see that she wasn’t helping him and that she was in fact manipulating him and covering his tracks

But he soon realized that she had done this when he was a child too, that she sexually assaulted him when he was 12 at the children’s home where she worked

What Mick saw as friendship and the possibility that they had something more he now realized was wrong

As Katy tried to convince Mick that he had misunderstood the events of the past and that nothing had ever happened between them, Mick knew she was lying – and on Thursday he told the Samaritans that he had been sexually abused as a child

It was a turning point that would hopefully help Mick deal with his past and get him the help he needed – all while exposing Katy’s horrific crimes

Mick detailed moments from his childhood that showed how much she handled him and managed to put him alone

Katy, around 20, was encouraging 12-year-old Mick to spend time with her and not with the other children

Not only did she isolate him from them by telling him to cancel a boy’s birthday party, she also fed him lies to make him feel isolated and vulnerable

Mick explained how she would tell him that other kids hated or laughed at him to prevent him from forming friendships and spending time with them

She made him believe that she was the only one who cared about him and wanted him around, often taking him to her house

Mick revealed that he managed to bury what happened to him after meeting his wife Linda as a teenager, thanking him and their children for saving him

But when things started to change with Linda and the kids weren’t around, Frankie’s arrival and Katy’s appearance put everything back together

Unable to face any of this or come to terms with the truth, Mick’s sanity exploded and he again isolated himself and bottled everything – just like he did when he was a kid

Katy began to manipulate him again as an adult, penetrating his head and even encouraging him to stay away from his own family

She told him again that he could trust her and open up to her, but as Mick reached his lowest point in the last episode and prepared to kill himself, he realized that everything that she was doing was for herself

He said: “She abused me, I’m a victim and she’s been hiding it since”
