Ebene News – UA – Gunman in Brisbane house triggers police lockdown

An armed man was locked up with others in a house on the south side of Brisbane on Thursday, as police closed surrounding streets and tried to “find a peaceful solution”

Police were called to the scene just before 10:30 a.m. and negotiators were at the scene, a police spokesperson said

Acting Inspector Mick Ackery confirmed there was a gunman in the house, along with other people inside, but said he couldn’t provide much more detail on this stage on who they were or what weapon the man had

Police were called to the Dyson Avenue property earlier in the morning, but were not drawn to the reason for the visit

He said that no one was injured and that the specialized police were trying to “find a peaceful solution” to the situation

The exclusion zone originally included Banoon Station but has since been reduced to a section of Dyson Avenue and Keats Street to the southeast, between the railroad tracks and Beenleigh Road

Residents have been urged to follow the advice of emergency services on the ground and members of the public have been urged to avoid the area
