Ebene News – UA – ‘Reconsider your trip’: NT declares Sydney a coronavirus hotspot from midnight

The Government of the Northern Territory has expanded its coronavirus hotspot from seven Sydney suburbs to all of Greater Sydney from midnight tonight

Eight cases have also been detected in Victoria, linked to a restaurant where an NSW traveler dined on December 21

NT Health Minister Natasha Fyles said health officials are reviewing developments in metropolitan Melbourne and may soon announce new hot spots given Victoria’s new case load

“Following this hotspot statement we are monitoring New South Wales very closely and in particular the city of Melbourne,” she said

“We will not hesitate to declare other hotspot regions I urge all Territorians, please reconsider your trip in the coming weeks”

“This means that if you arrive after this time you will either have to quarantine at the facility in Howard Springs or in Alice Springs,” she said.

“We have seen an outbreak in Sydney, although we have two specific clusters, we have a number of cases in metropolitan Sydney, which is why the Northern Territory declared this area as a hotspot”

Health officials yesterday declared hot spots in Croydon, Croydon Park, Lilli Pilli, Strathfield, Strathfield South, Strathfield North and Sutherland
