Ebene News – United States – 20 hard-hit communities to receive help from DPH vaccine

BOSTON – The Department of Public Health said on Tuesday it would help 20 municipalities – which have both been disproportionately affected by COVID-19 and historically underserved – raise safety awareness and to vaccine effectiveness and reduce barriers to immunization

The targeted initiative focuses on Boston, Brockton, Chelsea, Everett, Fall River, Fitchburg, Framingham, Haverhill, Holyoke, Lawrence, Leominster, Lowell, Lynn, Malden, Methuen, New Bedford, Randolph, Revere, Springfield and Worcester

The DPH plans to support efforts tailored to the needs of each community and offers support, including providing vaccine ambassadors to share information and materials, disseminating culturally appropriate information on vaccines in multiple languages , recruiting local residents for outreach efforts like door-to-door campaigns and coordination groups, including community health centers, local health boards, and community and faith-based organizations

The Baker administration also announced Tuesday that it has invested $ 1 million in the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers to support the centers’ efforts to tackle vaccine hesitancy and increase rates of immunization of hard-hit people and communities
