A 70-year-old man has been charged in connection with the runaway death of Nicki Minaj’s father

Robert Maraj, 64, died in hospital the day after the crash in Mineola, Long Island, New York on Friday

He was walking north on Roslyn Road and Raff Avenue around 6:15 p.m. when he was hit by Charles Polevich’s car, Nassau County police said

During a press conference, police said they found Polevich’s car and he surrendered

Polevich has now been charged with leaving the scene of a car crash with one death and falsifying evidence

“He got out of the car and looked at the deceased, got into his car and made a conscious decision to leave instead of dialing 911, instead of calling an ambulance for the man

“He went home and isolated the vehicle. He is well aware of what he did,” Detective Fitzpatrick said

Police say “investigation is ongoing”, but rapper, who recently gave birth to her first child, has yet to speak out publicly
