Ebene News – United States – This is what the implosion of Trump Plaza looked like from across Atlantic City

In a thunderous roar that echoed through Atlantic City and on beaches, the 39 stories and more than three decades of history of the The Trump Plaza collapsed in an implosion on Wednesday

The former casino hotel, the first to bear the former president’s name in the Jersey Coast gambling mecca, has been vacant since it closed in 2014, thirty years after it opened

About 200 cars full of onlookers gathered at Bader Field across town to watch the implosion, while others who paid for the best seats in the house gathered at OneAtlantic Pier to watch her descend Others, bundled up, watched from the beach outside the exclusion zone

Implosion marks the end of an era Trump Plaza was the tenth casino to open in Atlantic City when it welcomed players in May 1984, seven years after gambling was legalized in 1977 But after a string of bankruptcies, Trump ultimately lost majority ownership of the property For years after it closed – putting thousands out of work – the building was vacant, passing ownership of Trump Entertainment Resorts to Icahn Enterprises in 2016

Mayor Marty Small has set a goal for his administration in 2020 to demolish the building – parts of its facade falling onto the promenade after a storm – which he called “inconvenience”

Now he has said city officials will start talks with Ichan to see what the future holds for beachfront property
