Ebene News – US – Adolfo Quià ± ones, aka Shabba-Doo, ‘Breakin’ Star, dead at 65

Toni Basil, who co-founded the group The Lockers which helped popularize street dancing in the 1970s, shared the news of Quiñones’s death on social media Wednesday. Chicago native Quiñones was an innovator of the dance style known as “lockdown” and played Ozone in the hit breakdance films Breakin ‘and Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo, both released in 1984

“It is with extreme sadness that the Lockers family announces the unexpected passing of our beloved Adolfo Shabba-Doo Quiñones”, wrote Basil “In these difficult times we ask for confidentiality”

In addition to film and television roles, Quiñones has also been a choreographer of popular artists such as Lionel Richie, Madonna and Luther Vandross, and has been the lead dancer and lead choreographer for Madonna’s Who’s That Girl? Toured in 1987

Sheila E and Ice-T also mourned Quiñones’ death on Twitter, Sheila writing: “Just found out I lost another friend Shabba doo A great Hiphop dancer We toured together with Lionel Richie 1983 Gosh, rest in peace my brother @officialshabbadoo @Shabba_Doo “
