In an interview yesterday on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, actor Ethan Suplee detailed his long journey to a healthier life and revealed that he sometimes struggles to appreciate how far he has come.
Looking at pictures of himself at his heaviest, Suplee spoke about some of the negative feelings he still experiences. “It’s incredibly satisfying, but look,” he said. “The reality is that I have a mental illness and I don’t look at myself and think, ‘God, I look great’ I only see negative stuff every day and try to convince myself ‘”
Asked when he first started experiencing feelings of body dysmorphia, Suplee recalls dieting when he was five and hearing people tell him his appearance was bad. not obese at five I was a chubby five year old, but I was super active, ”he said “I didn’t eat junk food all day”
To help improve his state of mind, Suplee has said he is now focusing on the gains he is happiest to achieve since his dramatic transformation in his fitness. “Usually these are my traps I can look at my traps because they are skinny – there is not a bunch of loose skin hanging there They are not all scarred by the surgeries I look at my traps and say:` `Okay, that looks goodAnd based on that I can start to feel good about myself”
Suplee is also recording his own popular podcast, American Glutton, where he invites guests to talk about their own weight loss experiences and frequently posts inspirational motivational photos and words to his Instagram account. Her journey to self-acceptance is proof that no matter how strong your body is, you also need to have a righteous mind.
