Ebene News – US – Orange County opens new Super POD vaccination site at Costa Mesa Exhibition Center

COSTA MESA, Calif .– Officials opened their latest super POD vaccination site at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa on Wednesday

“This site will greatly increase our capacity to move the county forward safely to reopen our economy,” said Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Andrew Do

“We have worked very hard to ensure better access for all residents of Orange County,” Do said

Supervisor Katrina Foley, who represents the district that includes the fairgrounds, said plans are underway to offer more flexible hours at the site “because some people cannot afford to be absent work to go to a POD from 8 to 5 “

Dr Clayton Chau, county health director and director of the Orange County Health Care Agency, said it was essential to vaccinate as many residents as possible to overcome variants of the virus, that caused an increase in some states and countries

He said officials were handing out vaccines to anyone who wanted one in zip codes identified by the state as a priority because these are the disadvantaged communities hit hardest by the pandemic

“Several countries have returned to soft lockdowns and we know that is because they have not been able to vaccinate quickly,” said Chau, adding that England had not had to do so because the authorities were vaccinating residents as quickly as possible

In some countries, authorities withheld vaccinations to ensure there was enough vaccine for booster shots, but England prioritized the first vaccines as much as possible before receiving the injections recall, said Chau

“It seems to have worked and I made the same recommendation to the state, so we’ll just wait and see,” Chau said

He stressed the importance of continuing to respect social distancing and face coverings and reminded travelers that the state “strongly recommends” quarantine for 10 days after returning from travel out of the country. ‘State

The county inoculated around 11 million residents and around 500,000 received a photo and recall, Chau said

Orange County officially qualified for the Orange tier on Tuesday, when the state announced its weekly coronavirus data update, and the relaxed restrictions took effect on Wednesday

“Since we first opened our doors indoors, sales have really exploded and increased a bit, so we’re excited to have seating inside now and people are loving it,” Tim said. Taber, the owner of the Dick Church restaurant

In summer the plan is for an authorized ice rink in the parking lot of Dick Church

The latest weekly state update showed the county’s test positivity rate increased from 21% to 17%, and the case rate adjusted per 100,000 people over a seven-day average with a seven-day lag went from 35 last Tuesday to 28

Retail stores no longer have to limit attendance, and churches, cinemas, museums, zoos and aquariums can increase attendance by 25% to 50% of capacity

Restaurants can expand indoor dining 50%, wineries can offer indoor service 25%, and bars that don’t serve food can reopen outdoors for the first time

Gyms and fitness centers can expand up to 25% of their capacity, and family entertainment centers can offer indoor attractions such as bowling

Chau said it was not clear when the county might be able to reach the yellow level. State mandates remain in the orange level for at least three weeks

Chau predicted that the state will meet its target of 4 million inoculations of low-income residents, which will trigger an easing of standards for every color in the multi-tiered network for the reopening of the economy

Case rates must drop below one in 100,000 to reach the yellow level, but the county qualified for the yellow level of positivity rates for last week, said Orange County CEO Frank Kim
