Ebene News – US – Raps finds pleasure despite end-of-season results

With Kyle Lowry and Fred VanVleet seemingly taking nights off or rehab, with Chris Boucher pretty much done for the year and with 10th place in the Eastern Conference further and further with each night that passes, significant clearances remain, but only by definition

VanVleet, who was impressive in the loss to Utah on Saturday night before sitting down on Sunday to avoid causing further damage to a weakened hip, admits a clear goal for the past seven games after the clash with the Lakers on Sunday night is a bit difficult to pinpoint

“Yeah, I mean it’s tough because we’ve got some kinda stoned guys,” said VanVleet “Obviously myself in and out of the roster, Kyle was out tonight so you just try to try to get through it and be available and be healthy to play at a high level So when we’re together, you know, we go there to win We were aware of what was going on (ranking around that 10th place before Saturday’s game in Utah) We knew Washington was down, we knew the Bulls were down so we want to go out and win We always make an effort when we’re out there It’s just about coming together and being healthy at the same time “

Unfortunately, that scenario – being healthy at the same time – doesn’t seem like the one that’s going to work anytime soon. And by the time it does, if it does, this window on a shot in the 10th may have been closed

Yet VanVleet knows that wins and losses at this point and under these circumstances are not the all and the end all

“For the other guys me, OG (Anunoby), Pascal (Siakam), Khem (Birch), Malachi (Flynn), you know, we are also building and trying to improve every game and every day,” VanVleet has says “We had a great shoot around (Saturday) morning so we just keep developing what we want to be in the future, but obviously we always try to make an effort when we’re out there So just keep everyone positive It’s been a hell of a year keeping everyone positive and on the same page and just trying to improve It helps us if we try to make the playoffs and it helps us next year So improve you every day and decide who we want to go forward “

Regardless, VanVleet admitted that while things have been bad at times this season, Raps coach Nick Nurse and his team have managed to put some fun back in the game while preparing for the next season

At a time that didn’t seem possible given the number of players, and directly proportional to that, the number of COVID games had an impact on the squad this season VanVleet said the turning point in this regard has come with the arrival of Birch and Freddie Gillespie, two greats who have solved, or at least tackled, the demoralizing problem of a team unable to secure a rebound and constantly having to once again defend a seemingly successful defense possessions that should have ended with this bounce

“The addition of Freddie Gillespie, Khem, around that time when everyone was resting and winning a few games, it woke us up, so the mood has been good since these few games and it’s been a great atmosphere in practical, ”said VanVleet

“Nick has done a great job of getting everyone excited again about what we’re doing and what we’re trying to do and it’s been fun We’ve had fun the past few weeks as a team, regardless of victory and defeat because we played the right way and we all got better “

Again, it’s no easy task for a team used to playing meaningful games this time of year. The road to getting to this point has been as twisted as anyone could imagine

“We found him,” VanVleet said of this elusive happiness this year “We started without him and then we found him and obviously life has happened, things have happened (COVID attacked ) and we had to get it back It’s life man it’s ups and downs and as long as we stick together and stay positive it’s gonna be fine “
